Beer Cake

This is a beer cake that my daughter and I made for my husband for his 50th birthday.

We used a 14" base cake board, an 8" cake board covered in paper or decorative foil, a 6" cake board covered in paper or decorative foil, a 30 pack of the recipients favorite beverage, hot glue, tissue paper and decorations.  We is red sequin curly floral picks, white glitter curly q's, red tulle, white tulle w/glitter, danish flag toothpicks, red 1" ribbon, 1/2 white ribbon, a wooden "5" and "0" and red spray paint, scissors, clear packing tape, wire cutters, floral wire, floral tape, etc depending on what you are decorating with.

On the base place cans in a circle about 1" from the edge of the cardboard, place one can in the center and place tissue between center can and place dots of hot glue under and between cans as needed to secure. Repeat with the 8" layer but put cans at the edge of the cardboard, the 6" layer will require 1 can in the center and 6 cans surrounding that can. Glue the layers together but don't go CRAZY or you gift recipient will have a terrible time getting it apart to ENJOY the gift!

Decorate as desired!

Happy crafting,

Deco Mesh Memorial Wreath

This is a memorial wreath I made for my granddaughter who was just too perfect for this old world.

This is made with the standard deco mesh method.  I used full length pink chenille stems (aka pipe cleaners) to attach the mesh to the wreath frame then wrapped the ends around a paint brush handles to make cute little curlie-q's for am added decoration.  The wreath is decorated with baby shower favors tied on with ribbon and beautiful pink butterflies.
A teddy bear with a pink bow and a white photo frame for a picture of our little angel finishes off the wreath.

Have a blessed day my friends!

Make the Days Count Burlap Wreath

This is a burlap wreath made for a friend for her birthday.  I found this sign and loved it so designed the wreath around it.

The dragonflies are metal wall accents from Hobby Lobby, one of my favorite stores!  I am consistently planning crafts and gifts around what is on sale!!!

I prefer doing my burlap wreaths the same way I do my deco mesh wreaths.

Happy crafting!!!

Burlap Arkansas Razorback Wreath

This is a wreath I made for a friend and co-worker.

It is made in the same manor you would make a deco mesh wreath just using burlap.

I recently started using zip ties to do wreaths and I LOVE THEM!  So much easier to get a tight fasten point and MUCH EASIER on your hands!  I just tie ribbons around the connect point to hide the zip ties...

The letter is just a wooden letter painted black then with crackle finish, followed with a coat of red (applied quickly, don't overwork it) and finally a few details...a bow to cover the wire to attach it and Razorbacks painted down the side of the letter.
